Costello Testified That Cohen Told Him Trump Ignored His Advice to Hush Karen McDougal
New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan on Monday admonished Robert Costello, a defense witness in the trial of Michael Cohen, in a heated exchange on the stand.
Merchan sent the jury out of the courtroom so he could give Costello, who is a former federal prosecutor, a stern rebuke.
Costello testified that Cohen told him that Trump ignored his advice to hush Karen McDougal, a former Playboy model who alleges she had an affair with Trump.
Merchan was so incensed by Costello's behavior that he asked the jury to leave and then ordered Costello to remain seated.
The judge's outburst came after Costello interrupted Merchan's questioning and made repeated objections.
